A teenage boy has been judged to life imprisonment with a lowest duration of 16 years for the killing of other student the deceased during a midday recess.

Throughout the legal proceedings, the defendant stated he had not planned to cause death to the victim or cause him serious harm, stating he could not recall what had transpired.

Prosecutors countered that he had "intended to show he was hard" and "understood exactly what he was doing".

"You acted as the aggressor and... you proceeded in pain and anger at what you regarded to be his betrayal of your friendship," declared the judge during the punishment phase.

The school issued a statement expressing that Harvey was "greatly mourned every single day by the complete learning environment".

Police officials highlighted the devastating consequences of bearing blades, noting that a "split-second choice" can irreversibly change multiple futures.
